Maritime Reporter TV interview with e1 Marine’s Executive Director, Dave Lee
We’re pleased to share our recent interview with Maritime Reporter TV, where Dave Lee, e1 Marine’s Executive Director, discusses the critical challenges and opportunities in the maritime fuel transition. As the industry navigates increasing regulatory pressures and infrastructure challenges, hydrogen adoption is emerging as a key solution - but scalability, cost, and technological feasibility remain significant hurdles.
In this interview, Dave explores how e1 Marine’s methanol-to-hydrogen technology is paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable shipping industry. By leveraging methanol as a hydrogen carrier, our approach enables on-demand hydrogen production for fuel cells without the need for complex storage and distribution infrastructure.
He also discusses e1 Marine’s current project with STAX Engineering, funded by CARB and South Coast AQMD. This initiative will demonstrate how methanol-to-hydrogen technology can support emissions capture and control systems for ocean-going vessels, offering a scalable, grid-independent alternative to traditional shore power solutions.
